Step into History...
The Manoir de Kerdréan would have many stories to tell… Built in the 13th century in the commune of Le Bono, this imposing residence with incredible charm initially served as a summer retreat for the Bishops of Vannes.
Legend has it that hidden souls still linger here and there…
Surrounded by high walls adorned with round turrets and arrow slits, the building was restored in the 15th century.
Marion de Pontsal, heir to the episcopal manor, was the very first woman to reside there.
In 1475, she married Jan de Musuillac and brought the Seigneurie of Kerdréan as her dowry. The Musuillac family remained owners for more than two centuries.
During the French Revolution, the manor was seized and sold by the State. It passed through several hands before being acquired by the d’Asnières de Salins family. This noble family lived there until the buildings were converted into a hotel in the late 1980s.
The historic manor was then extended with a new wing built in 1989 on the former orchard. Renamed “Domaine des Abbatiales,” the estate went on to host weddings and private events for over twenty years.
In 2020, Domaine des Abbatiales was acquired by Turenne Hôtellerie. Captivated by its undeniable potential, the group did not hesitate to invest despite the unfavorable health crisis. Renovation work began in 2022 and lasted nearly two years. In the first quarter of 2024, Maison OBONO — a brand-new 4-star hotel concept with a restaurant, bar, and spa — finally opened its doors.
Its name, “Obono,” refers to the commune of Le Bono, which in Breton means “er benew” (the boundary) or from the Gallo word “bono,” meaning “swamp.”
